They have really helped, I would have been starving.

Harrow Central Mosque ran Helping Hands for those vulnerable, elderly or self-isolating. They helped with essential medicine delivery, food and grocery shoppings and a weekly cooked food delivery.

One resident explained how it helped him:

I heard about Helping Hands, I think it was through Harrow Council and I live like right next to the (Mosque).

They’ve helped me with letters, they’ve also helped me with bringing me food through the virus lockdown and also over the telephone, just in general ringing me and having a chat just to make sure I’m alright really.

It helped a lot, I mean the letters that I received from helping hands helped me with PIP and stuff, I have to actually appeal and I were looking for some help with that, I don’t know if helping hands can help me again with that. They’ve helped me with shopping when I had nothing, and to talk to, just someone there to talk to really, ringing and asking how I am.

Thank you ever so much, they’ve been absolutely brilliant, I don’t know what I’d do without them, there have been some really low times where you know, I’ve had nothing and stuff, and they have really helped. I would have been starving
