Welcome to Harrow Photographer of the Year 2024
Harrow Photographer of the Year is an annual celebration of Harrow
The competition looks for photographs that show the Borough through the eyes of the people who live and work here. Anyone can enter – from professional photographers to people with a smart phone.
The theme for 2024 was ‘This is Our Story’.
Thank you to everyone who entered – and huge congratulations to the winners.
2025’s competition will open for entries 1st June 2025.

Come and see the winning photographs
Our winner’s exhibition will be moving around the borough. We launched the exhibition at Harrow Arts Centre. The next stop is at Stanmore Library.

Kothandaraman Sambandan for ‘Marlborough Hill’ – an eerie early morning photograph of an allotment on Marlborough Hill

Niall Sewell (Student at Nower Hill High School) for ‘The death of print’ – a portrait of a person holding a flaming newspaper, commenting on young people’s relationship with print.
Runner Up
Yaseen Akram (Student at Hatch End High School) for ‘Midnight Train’ – a magical shot through the railings of Carmelite Bridge in Wealdstone.
Daniel Cope (Student at Nower Hill High School) for ‘Ghost’ – a striking portrait exploring finding one’s identity.
Highly Commended
Hannah Morrison (Student at St Teresa’s primary school) for ‘My sister is my best teacher’ – a portrait of the photographer’s sister in a playground in Cedar’s Park.

- Anna Ware – Mind in Harrow CEO and representative from the Harrow Together Board
- Niaz Maleknia – Tutor from the University of the Arts, London and professional photojournalist
People’s Choice
Entries were shortlisted by Harrow Giving’s community panellists and 16 taken to community shows over the summer, where over 800 members of the public voted for their favourite.

Runner Up
Bill Chalmers for ‘Lazy Days’ – a figure reading in a field of buttercups on Pinner Park Farm
Kun Dang for ‘Baby don’t herd me’ – a night-time photograph of cows at Headstone Manor
