Life changed instantly when shielding became essential

Harrow Carers supports around 4000 carers of all ages. However, this number has rapidly increased with the outbreak of COVID-19.

Oscar’s Story

Oscar, a 86 year old widower who had major open-heart surgery in 2018, lived a relatively active but quiet life until the pandemic struck. His life changed instantly overnight, where self-isolating and shielding became essential.

With the lack of nearby help due to his children living far from Harrow, access to food became a top priority. Oscar, who is deeply grateful for all the support he is receiving, commented:

“This service that Harrow Carers provided was prompt, polite, smooth, and safe from anpossible infections, and I propose to use this service again. I am also pleased to thank HarroGiving, HarroCouncil and HarroCarers for their support.”

Harrow Giving would like to take this moment to express their sincere thanks to all the volunteers and staff of Harrow Carers. They undoubtedly are helping to make life easier for some of the most vulnerable people within the community.

“A massive thank you to Harrow School for the visors, aprons, and masks to support our fantastic care support workers and volunteers, helping to keep our care for and vulnerable community members safe and well.” From Harrow Carers
