More than a game
Sean Troup
When I began shooting at Wealdstone, my focus was on the team’s success—I wanted to see them win. But as time went on, my perspective changed. I started to connect more deeply with the players, understanding the emotional and physical sacrifices they make every day. The more time I spent behind the lens, the more I realized that what truly matters to me is the players themselves, not just the scoreboard. I now hope for Wealdstone’s success not for the fans, but for these individuals who give everything on the pitch.
This photograph captures just how much emotion the players pour into the game. It’s not only about the goals or the victories, but about their passion, commitment, and the relentless effort they bring every match. Through my lens, I aim to showcase that dedication—the highs, the lows, and everything in between.
With this exhibition, I’m excited to share this part of my journey and how my passion for photography has grown into something much more meaningful. This image, and the stories behind it, marks the beginning of what I hope will be a long and rewarding career capturing the heart of the game.
